This is a very nice basic beanie that can be left plain or striped if you are making it for a guy or if you are making it for a girl, you can embellish it with whatever your heart desires. The list is almost endless for things to use as cute embellishments. If your girl doesnt like anything fancy, just leave it plain for her too.

I have worked off of this pattern many times in the past. It's easy, cute and works up very quickly. I like it because you can do so much with it. Make it is dark blue and white and suddenly it's suited more for a boy. Do it in pink and white or purple and white and add a flower and bingo! It's for a girl. Add a trim, like little hearts or what I did for Christmas was do it in green and red and add tiny bells in a pompom on the very center top.
