The dictionary says mittens are fingerless closed end hand covers. It goes on to say fingerless gloves are exactly what the name implies, gloves that have had the finger parts removed. So which is the correct name for these? They are not closed in, thy are fingerless, if you finished them they would be gloves not mittens.
