I wonder if the dish cloth would be lighter if you do fewer rounds. I find that cotton yarn is lighter than regular acrylic yarn, but I do not really have a preference for heaviness so it usually is not a problem. However, if I am making a dish cloth, I use cotton every time. It is better than acrylic when you will be using the item to wash dishes.

My friend asked me to make her some crocheted dish cloths, but she was disappointed in how heavy they turned out. First I used worsted weight acrylic and then I used Hobby Lobby's 'I love this cotton'. The cotton was better, but both she and I wish we could find some lighter weight cotton. I was going to answer "Yes" to the question about crocheting for charity, but since I don't do Facebook, I couldn't reply.
