Catherine Cowl
The Catherine Cowl shows off the Catherine Wheel Stitch quite nicely in vibrant pink lightweight yarn. This crochet pattern includes a tutorial that takes you step by step through crocheting the Catherine Wheel stitch if you haven't done it before. There is also a crochet diagram included if you prefer that method. You only need 437 yards (400 meters) of yarn for this cowl that measures 8 (20 cm) in diameter and 26 (65 cm) in circumference. What a pretty statement piece. I am really liking the color selections for this cowl. I think Valentine's and it warms my heart.

I have seen the Catherine stitch in a few projects. I really like it and because new techniques sometimes take me a long time to master, this may be the project to get me up to speed on the Catherine Wheel stitch. Thanks for sharing this quality easy free crochet pattern.

This was a very straightforward pattern. I particularly appreciated the number of photos used to illustrate important points. Even though this is considered an easy pattern, it can still be frustrating for a beginner. I remember working and pulling out many a Catherine stitch before I was able to make them as flat as necessary. This project works up nicely as a gift, especially when paired with the matching wrist warmers.
