Simple Crochet Balls

search

"This is a recipe / formula for crocheting balls of various sizes with any yarn weight and gauge. It works best for smaller balls, and may not be so great for balls over about 8 in diameter. The pattern uses an easy table to figure out how many rounds to work, based on your particular gauge and the size of ball you want to make. No swatching is necessary, just work the beginning rounds until you reach the size you want, then follow the instructions in the table to finish."

Easy

Any weight of yarn may be used along with the proper crochet hook for the yarn.

I would like to practice my felting technique. I think is the perfect item to practice on. Does anybody else think these balls would work great as a fidget toy? Also, if you add a bell inside the stuffing it could be a fun cat toy! Even a rattle for a baby...?

I think that this pattern is fairly straight forward, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a beginner. The idea of the pattern is there and actually the sizing chart is super helpful and something I'll refer to in the future! My advice is to work these balls using the spiral technique and moving a stitch marker (I use a paper clip lol) as you go. This will eliminate any ugly seam lines and uneven bulging. I hope this helps!
