Tunisian Entrelac Throw
Your home would look amazing and oh so warm and cozy with this Tunisian Entrelac Throw. The crochet colors look beautiful together as the design flows nicely. If you know how to crochet a blanket then this should be next on your list. The design is worked in entrelac rows and if you follow the color sequence you'll get the striped appearance for this crocheted afghan. Tunisian crochet is used to complete this particular pattern from Lion Brand Yarns.

- 860-145 Vanna's Choice Yarn: Eggplant 2 balls (G)
- 860-158 Vanna's Choice Yarn: Mustard 2 balls (H)

GAUGE:
12 sts + 10 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in Tunisian Crochet;
One Block = about 3 in. (7.5 cm) measured diagonally.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
1. Throw is worked in Tunisian Crochet Entrelac.
2. A regular crochet hook is used instead of a Tunisian hook, since only a small number of sts are held on the hook for each Block.
3. All rows of Tunisian Crochet are worked with the RS facing at all times. Do not turn the work.
4. Each row of Tunisian Crochet is worked in two passes; a Forward Pass and a Return Pass. Loops are picked up and placed on the hook on the Forward Pass, then worked off on the Return Pass. Do not draw up a loop in the first vertical bar of a Forward Pass. The loop remaining on the hook after a Return Pass counts as the first loop of the next row.
5. Each Entrelac Row consists of Blocks of Tunisian Crochet. Each Block is made by working rows of Tunisian Crochet over a small section of sts of the previous row. Row 6 of each Block is not worked in Tunisian Crochet, but is worked in a single pass of sl sts only. The yarn is fastened off at the end of each Entrelac Row and the next color is joined to the beg of the row for the next Entrelac Row.
6. The odd-numbered Entrelac Rows are made of 19 Blocks and the even-numbered rows are made of 20 Blocks.
COLOR SEQUENCE
Each Entrelac Row is worked with one color. Work color sequence as follows: one row each with A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. Rep this color sequence for the length of Throw.

This looks like little squares joined together in rows. Upon reading the directions it appears that the design is created in rows by changing colors. I have to say I know I will have trouble with this if I am not able to find a tutorial on line as one is not provided with the directions here.

So I did not know about the entrelac crochet technique until I ran across this post on the All Free Crochet site. I was not surprised to learn that this technique is also in the world of knitting as well. This pattern is using the tunisian technique and apparently that is not the only way to get this design in crochet. So it is off I go to learn more about this crochet technique.

The very first Tunisian project I ever tried was this very throw. I didnt seem to notice its not exactly a Beginner project. Since this a Lion Brand project, I went straight to the website so I could take advantage of the free download. If youd like to do the same, the information about the pattern and the download can be found here http//www.lionbrand.com/crochet-pattern-tunisian-e == ntrelac-throw-1.html

First I have to say that I'm so happy that this pattern has been up-dated with some pattern notes, to make this much easier to understand. I enjoy doing the Tunisian stitches and this Tunisian Entrelac Throw is another great pattern to use this technique of crocheting. The change of colors for this one go great together and this Throw will look sweet in any room. I looking forward to making this one now. Thank you so much for this free Tunisian crochet pattern.

I"m pretty sure when I worked up the original project, there was a video that went along with it. I do remember the turns were a bit tricky.

Nice yarn choice for this lovely throw. I finally got a chance to make a potholder using the Tunisian crochet stitch. It was also worked on a regular crochet hook instead of a Tunisian hook. I hesitated for a very long time, but it was so easy when I finally gave in. The colors on this throw are fabulous and it looks fairly easy to make.

I love the look of this throw. It looks warm, which is really good for me because I get cold easily. I have never worked the Tunisian crochet stitch, which makes me hesitant to start this pattern. I will have to do some more research on Tunisian crochet before I make something this big!

I just started this today. Only on my fourth block and i am not understanding the directions and YouTube has videos but not for a pattern like this. Just wondering, because again directions are not clear. How do the squares actually join together on row 2?

I love entrelac crochet because it gives a nice heavy fabric that is similar to knit. I also really like the harlequin look it results in. The different colours for each row on this blanket really pop. I will be adding this one to my queue. I think I will use red, black, grey, and white, or maybe red, black, and gold. I cant decide.

I made this afghan only I made it to fit a queen size bed. It turned out beautifully. Gave it to my brother for a Christmas present and he loves it. The pattern was easy to follow. Will more than likely make another one sometime this year. I would recommend this pattern to someone who wants something beautiful to display. Thank you for sharing this pattern with us. I would add a photo, but have no clue how to.

I wish people knew what the term "entralac " really meant before using it, this is not it!

Hi buckskin, if you could re-read the instructions on Row 2 it says " Forward Pass (Insert hook in next sl st and draw up a loop) 5 times, insert hook in end of Row 1 of next Block of previous Entrelac Row and draw up a loop - .
