Alera Shawl

By: April Garwood from Banana Moon Studio
Alera Shawl

"Alera Shawl is a crochet shawl inspired by the book series Codex Alera, by Jim Butcher. It was the featured pattern in a crochet along in 2021. In this event, participants read the first book in the series, crocheted the shawl, and discussed both with other participants. The shawl is specifically inspired by the red capes that are introduced early on in the story when Tavi and Amara take shelter in the Princeps Memorial. These red capes continue to play a roll in the story as we learn what becomes of these two characters. The shawl includes three sections, each with a different texture."
