Amelias First Hat

"This hat makes a good chemo cap. I used Mainstays 100% cotton. It is super soft and breathes nicely. I got it at Walmart for two dollars a ball. This is my first time writing a pattern, so please let me know what you think of it! This hat took approx. 1hr to make, so depending on how fast of a crocheter you are, it shouldn't take too long. You can use this pattern to create hats to sell, just please give me the credit for creating the pattern. Happy crocheting!"

Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Finished SizeAdult medium

Instructions

  1. Round 1: 12 dc in magic circle. Join sl st to first dc.

  2. Round 2: ch 2, 2 dc into every st around, join with sl st to first dc.

  3. Round 3: ch 2, *1 dc into the first st, 2 dc crochet into the second; repeat from * around, join with sl st to first dc.

  4. Round 4: ch 2, *1 dc in the next 2 st, 2 dc in the next; repeat from * around, join with sl st to first dc.

  5. Round 5: ch 2, *1 dc in the next 3 st, 2 dc in the next; repeat from * around, join with sl st to first dc.

  6. Round 6: ch 2, *1 dc in the next 4 st, 2 dc in the next; repeat from * around, join with sl st to first dc.

  7. Round 7: ch 1, hdc in each stitch around, join with sl st to first hdc.

  8. Round 8: ch 1, working all sts for this round in the third loop of hdc, hdc in each st around, join with sl st to first hdc.

  9. Round 9: repeat round 9.

  10. Round 10: ch 1, working all st for this round in the third loop of hdc, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc.

  11. Round 11: ch 1, turn your work so the wrong side is facing you, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc.

  12. Round 12: ch 1, turn your work so the right side is facing you, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc.

  13. Round 13: repeat round 12.

  14. Round 14: repeat round 13.

  15. Rounds 15 - 17: repeat rounds 8 - 10.

  16. Rounds 18 - 22: repeat rounds 11 - 15

  17. Rounds 23 - 25: repeat rounds 8 - 10

  18. Round 26: ch 2, 1 dc in each st around, join with sl st to first dc

  19. Round 27: ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc

  20. Round 28: ch 1, turn your work to the wrong side is facing you, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc.

  21. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
