Bar Stitch

"The finished effect of this bar stitch produces a close pattern with vertical bars coming down the front of your work, the back will be a smooth look single crochet (dc for UK) stitch. Use different colours to give it a block effect, it is a lovely design to crochet baby blankets with. You can use it with any ply or yarn, I used for the sample a light worsted #3 (double knit for the UK) on a 4.50 mm hook, for blankets I would a #4 worsted (Aran for UK) yarn and larger hook size. "
