Hazelnut Crochet Square

By: April Garwood from Banana Moon Studio
Hazelnut Crochet Square

"This 8 inch crochet blanket square uses the Herringbone single crochet stitch to create the classic texture you see. This square was designed to be part of an autumn throw blanket, and the texture reminded me of the lightly ridged shells of hazelnuts. Combine with other squares to make blankets, pillows, bags, scarves, and more, or use by itself in cotton yarn to make a dishcloth, or in a double layer to make a hotpad. Difficulty Level: Intermediate Finished Measurements: About 8 inches square. Yarn: Cascade Yarns Pacific (60% Acrylic, 40% Superwash Merino Wool; 213 yds; 100 g; Worsted Weight/4/Medium): 3 skeins #178 Rust. Crochet Hook: J/10 (6 mm), or size needed to obtain gauge. Notions: Tapestry needle. Gauge: 18 sts x 13 rows = About 4 inches square in sc herringbone st."
