Reflective Ear Warmer
You're sure to turn heads this winter when you wear this Reflective Ear Warmer. Red Heart's Reflective yarn is used to work up this free crochet pattern.
This particular yarn is so unique because in normal lighting, it looks like your average worsted weight yarn, but it actually contains a reflective thread which makes it glow when you take a flash photo or when car headlights hit it.
All you need is one skein of each color yarn to work up this crocheted headband.
Crochet HookN/15 or 10 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
MATERIALS
- RED HEART® Reflective™: 1 ball each:
8884 Peacock A
8532 purple B - Susan Bates® Crochet Hooks:
9mm [N-13 US] and 6.5mm [K-10.5 US] - Yarn needle
GAUGE:
10 dc = 4” (10 cm) in pattern; 5 rows = 4” (10 cm) with 1 strand of A and B held together.
CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
SIZE:
One size fits most
Headband measures 4” wide x 22” circumference (10 x 55.9 cm)
EAR WARMER
With larger hook and 1 strand of A and B held together, ch 12.
Row 1 (right side): Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across, turn—10 dc.
Rows 2–26: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in each dc across, turn.
Joining Row: With wrong sides of Rows 1 and 26 held together and working through both thicknesses, ch 1, sc in each dc—10 sc.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
With right side facing and smaller hook, join 1 strand of B with sc to end of any row on upper edge, working across ends of rows, sc evenly spaced around; join with slip st in first sc.
Fasten off. Repeat for lower edge. Weave in ends.
