Crochet Clutch
Clutches are the perfect little accessory to bring with you for a night out on the town. This Crochet Clutch is worked up using Lion Brand's Vanna's Sequin yarn, which gives it a classy and subtle shimmer. This small crochet purse measures 5 by 12 inches, so it's just the right size for carrying around the evening essentials including your cell phone, credit card, and car keys. A magnetic snap closure keeps your belongings safe and sound as you dance the night away.

SIZE:
5 x 12 in. (12.5 x 30.5 cm), closed.
GAUGE:
20 sts + 16 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Tr2togBelow (Yarn over) twice, insert hook in same ch-1 sp as last tr worked 2 rows below, and draw up a loop, pull up to be even with working row, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice. Skip 3 sts. (Yarn over) twice, insert hook in next ch-1 sp 2 rows below and draw up a loop, pull up to be even with working row, (yarn over, draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
STRIPE SEQUENCE:
Working in pattern, work 2 rows with A, 2 rows with B, 2 rows with C.
Rep these 6 rows for Stripe Sequence.
NOTES:
- To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete st. Carry color not in use up side of piece.
- Clutch is worked with a small hook to achieve a tight gauge, suitable for this project.
CLUTCH:
With A, ch 60.
Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, *ch 1, sk next ch, sc in next 3 ch; rep from * to end – 59 sts.
Row 2: Ch 3 (beg ch counts as a dc on this row and on all the rows of this pattern), turn, dc in each st and ch-1 sp to end of row – 59 dc.
Row 3: Change to B, ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, tr in first ch-1 sp of Row 1, pulling up loop to be even with working row, working behind tr st, sk next dc, sc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next dc, *Tr2togBelow in previous ch-1 sp and next ch-1 sp, working behind Tr2togBelow, sk next dc, sc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next dc; rep from * to last 2 sts, tr in same ch-1 sp as previous Tr2togBelow, skip 1 dc, sc in top of turning ch.
Row 4: With B, ch 3, turn, dc in each st across.
Rows 5 and 6: Change to C and rep Rows 3 and 4.
Rows 7 and 8: Change to A and rep Rows 3 and 4.
Rep Rows 3-8 until piece measures about 14 in. (35.5 cm) from beg, end with one row with B.
Do NOT fasten off.
FINISHING:
Rnd 1: From RS with B, sl st evenly around outside edge of Clutch, join with sl st in first sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each sl st around, join with sl st in first st. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: From RS, join C with a sl st anywhere along Rnd 2. Sl st in each space between hdc’s of Rnd 2, join with sl st in first st. Fasten off.
Clutch Body
On one long side of piece, place a marker 4 in. (10 cm) down from short end.
From WS, join B where marked, ch 3, working towards opposite short end, dc in each slip st of Rnd 3 to corner of opposite short end.
Fold row just worked in half, bringing WS together. Working through both layers, sl st in each st to marker to join. Fasten off.
Rep to join opposite side edge.
Fold top edge of piece to make the Flap. With sewing needle and thread, sew half of magnetic closure centered on WS of flap. Sew other half of closure to RS of Clutch body, lining it up to match the position of the closure on the flap.
Weave in ends.
