Use this free crochet hat pattern to make yourself a wonderfully Easy Beanie/Beret Hat. Wear this beanie during the fall and winter months to keep your head nice and warm. Single crochet and double crochet are worked in 17 rounds.

Crochet HookJ/10 or 6 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:
Size "J" Crochet Hook
4 ply worsted weight Yarn (one skein - does not take entire skein)


Abbreviations: Rnd = Round, Ch = Chain, Sc = Single Crochet, Dc = Double Crochet, Sl St = Slip Stitch, * ** = Repeat Pattern

Instructions:
Rnd 1: Ch 4 (3 count as 1 DC). 15 Dc in 4th Ch from the Hook (1st Ch made). Sl St to join (16 Total Stitches)
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 DC now and throughout), 1 Dc in same Stitch as Ch. 2 Dc in each Stitch. Sl St to join. (32 Stiches)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, *1 Dc, 2 Dc in Next Stitch** Repeat Pattern around, Sl St to join (48 stitches)
Rnd 4: Ch 3, *2 Dc, 2 Dc in Next Stitch** Repeat Pattern around, Sl St to join (64 stitches)
Rnd 5: Ch 3, *3 DC, 2 Dc in Next Stitch** Repeat Pattern around, SL St to join (80 stitches)
Rnds 6 through Rnd 13: (8 Rnds) Ch 3, 1 Dc in Each Dc, Sl St to join (80 stitches)
Rnd 14: Ch 3, *3 Dc, Dc2tog (decrease)** Repeat Pattern around, Sl St to join (64 stitches)
Rnd 15: Ch 2 (counts as 1 Sc now and throughout) 1 Sc, Sc2tog. *2 Sc, Sc2tog** Repeat Pattern around, Sl St to join (48 stitches)
