Simple Crochet Baby Blanket Instructions

Notes:
The first ch-3 will be the first dc of the row.
Weave in ends as pattern progresses. 

  1. Chain 63.
    *Note: You will want to chain any multiple chain count of 12 + 3.

  2. Row 1: Sc in the second chain from hook and in each across. (62 sts).

  3. Row 2: Ch 3, sk 1, 3 dc in next st, * sk 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, repeat until 2 sts remain, sk 1 st, dc in last st.

  4. Row 3: Ch 3, dc in the same st, sk 2 sts, * 3 dc in the space between the next 2 3-dc sets, repeat from * until last st, 2 dc in last st.

  5. Row 4: Ch 3, * 3 dc in the space between the next 2 3-dc sets, repeat from * until one space remains, 3 dc in space, sk 1 st, dc in last st.

  6. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until desired length. Change colors as desired.

Border

  1. Join yarn at any corner. Ch 3. 2 dc in same stitch. Ch 2, then do 3 dc in same stitch again. 

  2. Working along the ends of the dc rows, you will put 2 dc in each dc row.

  3. Working along the top and bottom of the afghan, you will simply dc into each st.

  4. Once you've worked your way around the entire afghan, sl st to join.

  5. Optional: If you'd like to add rows to your edging, ch 3, dc into each stitch. At each border, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc.
