Scalloped Crochet Doilies
Looking to add a friendly and homey touch to your home decor? Crocheting a doily for decoration is a charming way to add a very personal touch to your abode. Crochet doilies can be stitched to several sizes and work well placed under knickknacks to highlight them while protecting the wood on side tables and coffee tables below. This free crochet pattern is customizable. The bigger the doily you want to create, the bigger hook you should use. They make a great housewarming gift as well!

This is a nice practice piece before going on to more intricate designs. Most thread doilies contain some amount of netting and scallops. Its much, much easier to work these stitches up with larger yarn (compared to #10 crochet thread). The designer has even embedded a video tutorial to guide the crafter. I would strongly suggest watching the video before starting on this project.

This pattern looks so hard but is actually very easy! You can make it with any size yarn and hook. I wanted a round, car blanket for a baby where there wouldn't be so much over-hang. Made with a size J hook and Vanna's yarn. Perfect car-seat blanket! I suggest you try the first few rows and will see how easy it is. Just print out the pattern and mark where you are.
