This pattern works with a 3.5 inch ornament made from either plastic or glass. There is a video tutorial included on the bloggers site for additional information on how to make the cover. This is a quick and easy project to give dull plain ornaments a facelift and add to your Christmas tree.

At first glance, I thought this was a macram ornament cover, not crochet. Very doable for a beginner, especially since there is a well produced video that goes along with the instructions. Videos have really changed the instructional world. Instructions are great, but being able to see something answers a lot of questions. I recommend them highly, especially for beginners.

I have been decorating my tree with vintage style ornaments and have a few of this style of ball. This pattern is more modern than those that I have. Very pretty ! Wondering if anyone has a pattern for a ball cover that is lacy? I would really like to give those a try. Christmas ball ornaments are so cheap after Christmas, would be a good idea to buy then and crochet up a box as a gift for the next year. These ones are done with satin balls, I don't even know if they sell those anymore.

This is a wonderful idea. I have a lot of older ornaments that are very plain. This would certainly dress them up a bit. And think about using glitter type crochet thread. I would also add a short or long tassel at the bottom. I have seen those in high end shops.
