SPECIAL TECHNIQUE
Broomstick Lace:
Broomstick Lace is worked with the right side facing at all times. Do not turn work at the beginning of Broomstick Lace rows. Broomstick Lace is made in two passes. In the first pass, loops are picked up across a row of crochet and placed on the needle. In the second pass, the loops are grouped and worked off of the needle.
Row 1 (first pass – pick up loops): Holding needle in left hand, place last loop of last st on needle. Working from left to right, *insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, place on needle; rep from * across.
Row 2 (second pass – work off loops): Insert hook in number of loops indicated, holding loops together as one, yarn over and loosely pull up a loop, ch 3, (counts as first dc), work number of dc indicated in same set of loops; *inserting hook in next group of loops as indicated, work number of dc indicated in same set of loops; repeat from * across.

NOTE
Scarf is worked with right side facing at all times, do not turn between rows.

This is absolutely beautiful! I have tried the broomstick lace stitch once before, but I do not remember how to do it. I will have to practice it, because I really want to make this beautiful scarf. It would make a great gift, or the perfect accessory any time. The color is amazing too!

Ths pattern wil not print. I have tried times. Very frustrated.

Hi robyncouch, There's a print button at the top, right below the project name and byline. Clicking that will open your browser's print menu where you can print this pattern. You can also highlight the pattern text and right click and print. OR you can highlight the pattern text, and copy and paste it into a blank word document and print from there. :) Hope that helps! I am starting to make this scarf right this minute! It is such a lovely pattern, I have just been taught how to do broomstick stitch and this gorgeous pattern is the perfect thing to practice it on. Now our teenage daughter wants one too in the exact color shown in the pattern so off I go to begin crocheting, lol!

I have a pair of knitting needles which I never use. I know how to knit but I prefer to crochet since I can finish a crochet project so much faster than knitting. Well, I am going to use my knitting needles later this year to create this scarf. I will post my project when it is done. Thanks for the pattern.

I just love this scarf pattern! Broomstick lace is very cute when done right and looks beautiful! This is such an easy pattern to follow. Love the color. I have never made any of these yet, but plan to in the very near future. Thank you for this beautiful free pattern.

I am in love with this pattern and the intricate look of it. I've never learned how to do broomstick lace but want to attempt it very soon! This scarf is especially making me want to try it since this is so beautiful.

I just love this Turquoise Broomstick Scarf pattern! Broomstick lace is so cute when done right and looks beautiful! Such a easy pattern to follow and do. I have made a lot of these and have even made them wider for a infinity scarf by sewing the ends together that my daughter stoled. Thank you for this beautiful free pattern.

I don't think that's a pretty stitch at all for a scarf. It looks messy, like there are some mistakes and holes. And the pattern looks like a lot of trouble for the finished results.
