The butterfly stitch is a new one for me. It looks a tiny bit like the alligator or dragon stitch. Looks like the pattern tutorial is very complete. It comes with a video tutorial and even has a left hander video tutorial. Having left handed instructions are very rare in any form.

I havent worked this stitch before but will certainly include it in the future. Im a visual learner, so between the photo tutorial, the step by step explanations, and the instructional videos, I feel pretty confident. As I usually do before starting a new stitch, I plan to watch the Right Hand version of the video as well as the extra video focusing on increases and decreases.

I like the look of this Butterfly Stitch Beanie. I really appreciate the video on the pattern page to show how to do the stitch. I had to watch it a few time to get it down, but I finely got it. I think I'll use a larger hook to make it for a adult and I'll be adding a few extra rounds as well. Hoping mine works out. Thank you for sharing this free crochet pattern.

The draw to this hat is the flower - but no instructions to make it....

If you go to the designer's website - Meladoras Creations, she has free patterns for flowers and many other hats.

The video tutorial was excellent in explaining exactly how to make this hat. Unfortuntely after completing the hat as described for an adult, it was way to small to fit for myself, more for a child or toddler, regardless of how many rounds made. I hope to figure out a way to expand the width to create one for myself since I really do like the final outcome of the pattern.

Did you try using a larger hook? I haven't read the pattern to see if it gives a gauge size....if it does check your gauge to see if you have the correct one with the hook that you are using.
