Floral Tissue Box Cover

Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
MATERIALS:
- 1 skein each White and Petal Pink Red Heart 4-ply yarn
- H crochet hook or size needed for guage
- Tapesty Needle
- Sewing Needle and Thread
- 4 Various Silk Flowers and 4 small white buds
- Boutique Tissue Box
GAUGE:
4 rows = 1”
4 scs = 1 ¼”
STITCH GUIDE: Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Slip Stitch (sl st)
INSTRUCTIONS:
SIDES (make 4)
Row 1 – With pink ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, fasten off and turn. (13 scs)
Row 2 – With white sc in each sc across, ch 1 and turn.
Rows 3-19 – Rep Row 2.
Row 20 – Rep Row 2, fasten off and turn.
Row 21 – With pink Rep Row 2, fasten off and Do Not Turn.
With pink work 21 scs evenly spaced along each side edge and fasten off.
TOP
Row 1 – With white and ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1 and turn. (13 scs)
Row 2-8 – Sc in each sc across, ch 1 and turn.
Row 9 – Sc in each of next 2 sc, ch 9 (for tissue opening), skip 9 scs, sc in each of remaining scs, ch 1 and turn.
Row 10 – Sc in each of next 2 sc, work 1 sc in each ch and remaining scs, ch 1 and turn. (13 scs)
Row 11-16 – Rep Row 2 and fasten off.
Row 17 – With pink sc in each sc across and fasten off.
With pink work 1 row of scs on opposite edge and fasten off.
With pink work 17 scs evenly spaced along both side edges and fasten off.
FINISHING
With white and right sides of pink rows facing you, whipstitch outside loops of sides together.
With white whipstitch top to sides as for sides.
Turn to opposite side for the cover.
Sew 1 flower to each side.
Sew 1 white bud to each top corner.

This is one for my senior girls! Since this project relies on silk flowers instead of crocheted, they wont be intimidated by tiny stitches. We always have odd flowers and leaves in our Crafts Stash bins. And with all the sides worked in white, we just need some skein ends for the edges. Instead of finishing as the pattern suggests, Ill be manning the hot glue gun!

I like this...colors and flowers may be changed for different holidays and events. I would definitely make this for myself as well as for friends and family!

I love it...looking old is matter of opinion = ) haha I agree w/ Mary Melody, it may well be because I too am old! I would love to make it for me, but know that would never happen so it would certainly end up as a lovely gift!!

I'd make it for a gift but change the colors for Christmas and put snowflakes on the sides or something Christmasy

I would make one for me & one for my friend. Maybe with different flowers....or, change the theme to Christmas or Thanksgiving or???

I would make it for myself as well as for a gift. But I would love to change it a little and actually crochet the flowers as well. I don't really like the idea of the silk flowers being attached. There are plenty of really gorgeous crocheted flowers to make and I would put some of them on the sides and on the corners.

I love it! I don't think it looks old at all. (Maybe that's because I'm old.) I have the perfect place for it in my bathroom. Isn't funny how every one is different. I think that's probably a good thing. :-)

I agree, too old fashioned looking. I'm not into hot pink and fake flowers. But it could be used as a pattern to fit my style.

I would not make it, just too old looking. Try a more modern wool. But get rid of those flowers.

No, I wouldn't make it or give it to a friend. Maybe with some pretty crocheted pansies or something not so 80's looking.
