We live near a major university that is renowned for their excellent sports teams, and their football program is nationally recognized. To say that the Hokie Nation is crazy about football would be an understatement. This is an easy pattern to work up, and even though the sizes are only Newborn to 12 months, it would be easy to bump this up to larger sizes. Id better get cracking on these as theyre going to be very popular in a few months!

Yeah step 5 doesnt make any sense. Wish i had noticed that before i started.

I can not get back seam to connect evenly HELP

I've adapted this by using team colors. It's such a fabulous, quick work-up! I use my I hook for adult sized hats.

I absolutely adore this cute little football hat. I just finished crocheting it for my grandson. I am sure when he gets it he is going to simply love it :). I noticed that when I used the G hook, it came out the exact perfect size for him, he is 7 yrs old. I figure if I take it down a few sizes (the hook), I can make the perfect size for his newborn brother due soon :). Thank you so much for the pattern it is very cute, and I enjoyed making it, was not difficult :).

Love it! I have a question, though. The newborn size...is that considered for 0/3 months? I have a baby that I want to make this for that is 2 months old, so I don't know if I should make it in the newborn size or the 3/6 month?

I was wondering the size comparison for red heart yarn. I made one hat with a G hook and it was almost big enough to fit me. I also made one in a F hook and it was smaller, but I am not sure if it will fit a newborn.

Just want to clarify I am doing this right, when it says "repeat 11 times" do you mean do 11 rows with those same stitches? Or just repeat those stitches 11 times?

I am looking for a pattern for a basketball hat, with hoop and net, I like this hat, planning to make one for my son.

I think this is what you are looking for. http://cats-rockin-crochet.blogspot.com/2010/06/its-goal-crochet-net-ball-hat.html I found and pinned this on pinterest. If you want to follow me my name is Cindy DeRose I have a lot of boards with free crochet patterns.

love this football hat...haven't tried it but plan to very soon..lots of nephews who would love it....

@scline53 5642805, We suggest contacting the original designer of this project for assistance with adjusting the sizing. Her name is specified in the byline. Thanks! --Editor of AllFreeCrochet

I think this hat is adorable and would love to make it for an adult. Could you publish directions for adults in thie cute hat? Thanks, Sue

I made this last night with a size K hook and it was big enough for my husband. I didn't change anything else. In fact, it's a little too big but I crochet pretty loose. I am going to try it again but with a J, I would also like to see what it would look like if it was made with a haslf double instead of a double.

Love the hat. yes, I would use the same color, but lots of kids requesting this hat in their school colors or their favortie college or pro teams!

i would love to make this in an adult size. what changes would i make?

I like this very much! A little fella and his Dad wld look sweet, watching the game. The hat looks very professional and well-made. Keep up the good work!!

Hey shirlbly, Go to the top of the pattern near the hook size and click and drag your mouse down the whole pattern. Once it is all highlighted you can copy and paste it into a word program and quickly delete the parts you don't want. Conversely, you could also copy just the 3-6 mnth part and paste that into a word program and print. It's what I always do. Saves paper and ink.

i wish there were some way i could just get the size 3-6 months instead of making a copy of all the pattern... shirley
